CLAC Solidarity Ontario: Revitalization Objectives, 2004
Hey Everyone! I thought this would be a good time to post some solidarity objectives. Enjoy!
On the basis of the discussion at the October 2003 Vision Conference, the following objectives have been identified for CLAC Solidarity in Ontario:
1. Supporting interest in a Christian worldview and Christian action among young people by growing the Ontario Student Solidarity Local, establishing OSSL chapters on Ontario college and university campuses, developing mentoring relationships between CLAC Solidarity Locals and OSSL chapters, and expanding OSSL connections with other Christian organizations.
2. Supporting interest in a Christian worldview and Christian action among young people by developing new publications that explain CLAC and its Christian social vision to current members and the new generation. In particular, developing a short and imaginatively designed booklet that provides an introduction to CLAC and an overview of its work and vision.
3. Supporting the development of Christian labour associations in Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe and Latin America by Solidarity locals and Student Solidarity locals taking on specific projects to support such associations where they exist and to help establish such associations where they emerge, with the initial focus on Mexico, Cuba, and Michigan, USA (in cooperation with the CLA-USA).
4. Supporting the development of Christian labour associations in Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe and Latin America through the translation and publication of CLAC materials, primarily in Spanish.
5. Taking on projects closer to home by using the resources of CLAC and the networks of CLAC members to provide training and employment information also beyond CLAC’s trade locals.
6. Promoting a Christian worldview and Christian social action in the broader Christian community through participation in public events and publication in the local press.
7. Promoting a Christian worldview and Christian social action in the broader Christian community by providing support and training to CLAC Solidarity members for public speaking and writing in support of CLAC’s social vision.
8. Improving services to CLAC Solidarity members by revitalizing the current local structures to improve the transmission of CLAC’s vision to members and the next generation, in particular by commissioning materials for use in schools, by increasing the number of seminars and the scope of the intended audience for these seminars, and by better marketing of CLAC’s existing services to Solidarity members.
9. Improving services to CLAC Solidarity members by developing a membership growth strategy.
10. Strengthening the Christian character of CLAC by means of greater CLAC Solidarity participation in the life of CLAC, in particular by means of CLAC Solidarity participation in the CLAC Convention and through regular meetings of the CLAC National Board with the boards of Solidarity Locals, in addition to their meetings with Trade Local boards.
